September 5th – Europe’s largest technology event, the Dublin Web Summit takes place this October 30th/31st and Cork stands to be well represented in the nearly 10,000 expected to attend, thanks to the efforts of a collective of local Technology Companies.

Startup Express

On Tuesday, October 29th, a specially commissioned, charter train the STARTUP EXPRESS will depart Kent Station, Cork to transport nearly 180 entrepreneurs, businesspeople, technologists, students and general startup junkies from the region to Dublin to facilitate them taking part in the event. On board the train, passengers will have the opportunity to take part in a host of networking and activities in three specially designated carriages. And best of all, it’s completely free for passengers with all costs being covered by Cork technology companies - VoxPro, PCH International and Trustev.

Hosting a variety of activities on route to further strengthen the Cork technology community.

Startup Carriage

Ten local startups will be given space on the Startup Carriage where they’ll receive speed mentoring from some of the world’s leading startup experts from TechStars, the world’s largest technology accelerator programme, as well as some of Ireland’s most experienced entrepreneurs. In rapid fire 20 minute sessions, the startups will get the best of advice on whatever areas of their business they feel need improving.

Speakers Carriage

The Speakers Carriage will have a selection of mini presentations from top entrepreneurs and business thinkers on a variety of topics. Focussed on casual conversation, passengers will have the chance to engage, question and dig deep into the experience of our international speakers.

Hardware Carriage

The Hardware Carriage will have a wide selection of devices from tablet computers to phone handsets for passengers to try out, along with representatives from various companies to demonstrate how to get the best from your devices.


The Web Summit is a global gathering of the world's leading thinkers and doers in technology. It's not just a gathering of the planet's leading startups and technology companies, but of businesses, large and small, who are being impacted by new technologies. This year over 10,000 attendees will make the trip from all corners of the globe to hear from over 300 speakers across dozens of stages, workshops and roundtables catered to every sector.

In a novel twist, on reaching Dublin, the train will travel from Heuston Station, onto Connolly Station and then out to Sydney Parade DART station where passengers will disembark adjacent to the RDS, home of the Dublin Web Summit.
